If you perform remote connectivity checks from one FireProof to another and the other device fails, the remote connectivity check will fail, even if the failed device was backed up successfully. In order to rectify this problem, you configure the device with a virtual IP address that is assumed by the backup device once it becomes active. By having the device that performs the remote connectivity check query for the remote virtual IP, the check will be successful when the backup device takes over.
You use the Remote Virtual IP window to configure remote virtual IP addresses. The Remote Virtual IP window contains the following fields:
Virtual Connectivity Mode – Whether the device is a regular device or a backup device.
