iPlanetTM Application Server Samples

Many popular XML-based frameworks and technologies are able to leverage the capabilities of the iPlanet Application Server platform. To demonstrate the capabilities of iPlanet Application Server, the application server includes instructions describing how to deploy several XML-oriented frameworks and samples. In addition to listing instructions for deploying popular XML frameworks to iPlanet, this page also highlights where XML plays a key role in popular sample applications bundled with the application server.

SOAP samples and installation instructions for Apache SOAP 2.2 demonstrate how to employ XML over HTTP via the SOAP protocol. EJBs are accessed by SOAP services in several sample applications.

Cocoon is a 100% pure Java-based publishing framework that relies on W3C technologies (such as DOM, XML, and XSL) to manage and display web content. The Cocoon project aims to change the way web information is created, rendered and served. iPlanet Application Server includes Cocoon 1.8 and instructions for deploying both the Cocoon framework and sample applications to iPlanet.

Java Pet Store (JPS) 1.1.2 leverages XML to support its template-based web presentation layer.
