About Security
The Netscape Application Server offers application security in the following ways:

The Security tool of the Netscape Application Server Administrator helps you implement these different levels of application security. The application developer is also responsible for determining what level of security to implement and implementing that level into their application. Therefore, implementing application security is a joint effort between the application developer and the server administrator.

This section explains your responsibilities as well as some of the application developer's responsibilities in implementing application security. This section also explains the differences between users and roles, the type of security each provides, and how they are used with Access Control Lists. Also covered are the differences between automatic and programmatic application security.
