
Configuration File Generate Redundant Configuration
You can
simultaneously configure multiple device's to back up one another. You can use
the main device's configuration to automatically produce the backup device's
configuration, or vice versa. Also, you can configure mutually redundant
devices. After you create the configuration files, you must upload them to the
appopriate device. Use the device that contains the existing configuration file
to create the new configuration file.
You can
review a description of any error and warning messages
you receive during the generation.
To create backup device configuration using main device
configuration:
- From the File menu, point at Configure File and
choose General Redundant Configuration.
The General
Redundant Configuration window opens.
- In the General Redundant Configuration window,
select Main Device to Backup Device.
- Click

The Main to Backup Convert window opens.
- In the Source File field, enter the name of the
Main Device configuration file.
Optionally, click
Browse to locate the file.
- In the Target File field, enter the name of the
Backup Device configuration file.
- Select a Source IP Interface on the Main Device.
- Click
.
The Main to Backup Table Edit window opens.
- In the Destination IP Address field of the Main to
Backup Table Edit window, enter an IP address on the Backup Device.
Each Destination IP Address must be on the same subnet
as the Source IP Interface it backs up.
- Click
.
The Main to Backup Table Edit window closes.
- Repeat steps 6-9 for each Source IP Interface on
the Main Device you wish to backup.
The IP Addresses
entered here comprise the devices' redundancy table.
- In the Main to Backup Convert window, click
.
The
configuration file for the Backup Device is made.
To create main device configuration using backup device
configuration:
- From the File menu, point at Configure File and
choose General Redundant Configuration.
The General
Redundant Configuration window opens.
- In the General Redundant Configuration window,
select Backup Device to Main Device.
- Click
.
The Backup to Main Convert window opens.
- In the Source File field, enter the name of the
Backup Device configuration file.
Optionally, click
Browse to locate the file.
- In the Target File field, enter the name of the
Main Device configuration file.
- Click
.
The configuration file for the Main Device
is made.
To create mutual redundancy configuration files (available
in WSD, WSD-DS, and WSD-NP only):
- From the File menu, point at Configure File and
choose General Redundant Configuration.
The General
Redundant Configuration window opens.
- In the General Redundant Configuration window,
select Mutual Device.
- Click

The Mutual CDB Convert window opens.
- In the Source File field, enter the name of the
existing configuration file.
Optionally, click
Browse to locate the file.
- In the Target File field, enter the name of the
configuration file to be made.
- Click
.
The configuration files are made.
