WSD NP Proximity Proximity Parameters
The Proximity Parameters window displays the following:
Proximity Mode Can be determined by the user as one of the following options:
No Proximity - No proximity is operated (In this case, the WSD NP will act exactly like a WSD DS device).
Static Proximity - The WSD NP will only use redirections according to the static proximity table. The dynamic auto learning mechanism is off.
Full Proximity - The WSD NP will redirect according to the static redirections, and will use auto learning for subnets which are not defined as static entries.
Main DNS Address To prevent inefficient learning of requests which arrive from the local DNS server, the WSD NP can be configured to ignore requests from specific addresses in the dynamic proximity mechanism. In this field the IP address of the local primary DNS server should be typed.
Backup DNS Address To prevent inefficient learning of requests which arrive from the local DNS server, the WSD NP can be configured to ignore requests from specific addresses in the dynamic proximity mechanism. In this field the IP address of the local secondary DNS server should be typed.
Check Retries Defines the number of check retries which are done with the client or the distributed sites during the proximity mechanism, when the client doesn't respond to the first check.
Check Interval Defines the time interval between consecutive retries in seconds.
Proximity Aging Period Defines the amount of time in minutes that a dynamic auto learned entry will be kept in the database. When this time is about to expire, the WSD NP may refresh the information of that entry by re-executing the proximity checks.
Proximity Checks Can be determined by the user as one of the following options:
Enable - The WSD NP will also serve as a distributed server for other WSD NP devices, and will do proximity checks for them. Those WSD NP devices should appear in the Load Report definitions.
Disable - No proximity checks will be done for other WSD NP devices.
Hops Weight The emphasis (between 1 and 100) to put on the number of hops between client and farms when determining proximity. The greater the number, the more distance (in hops) will figure in the determination.
Latency Weight The emphasis (between 1 and 100) to put on the time between client and farms when determining proximity. The greater the number, the more the round trip time will figure in the determination.
Load Weight The emphasis (between 1 and 100) to put on the traffic between client and farms when determining proximity. The greater the number, the more the amount of traffic will figure in the determination.
