About Administering Applications on Multiple Servers
To host applications on multiple Netscape Application Servers, you can partition applications across servers to specialize request and application processing, or you can duplicate applications on the servers to increase application performance with load balancing. The more servers that exist in the network, the more ways you can host the applications on the servers.
The following table describes the common ways to host an application on multiple Netscape Application Servers:
Hosting Configuration
Description
Local
The application is installed on each Netscape Application Server and uses multiple Web servers to traffic requests to each server. The Netscape Application Servers do not communicate with each other.
Partitioned
Parts of the application are hosted on different Netscape Application Servers. Each server knows on which other server the AppLogic objects of the application are hosted and forwards requests to the appropriate server.
Distributed for load balancing
Parts or all of the application are duplicated on different Netscape Application Servers. You can then configure the servers to balance application request loads.
