iPlanetTM Application Server Samples

iPlanet Application Server Service Pack 3 (SP3) contains many enhancements and additions to the suite of sample applications.

PointBase Integration

Many of the RDBMS-based samples are configured to run with the PointBase database server that is bundled as part of iPlanet Application Server.

Enhanced Samples

Java Pet Store (JPS) 1.1.2 is the latest version of this popular J2EE application from Sun Microsystems. JPS 1.1.2 includes XML-based request handling, componentized business logic and several other new features. Deployment of a new web-based administrative application and enablement of JavaMail-based order confirmation are described in the setup documentation for iPlanet.

Backend CORBA Interoperability samples have been enhanced to use a singleton pattern as a means of making ORB initialization more efficient in an application server environment.

JMS samples have been upgraded to use the new iPlanet Message Queue (iMQ) 2.0 product.

SOAP samples and installation instructions for Apache SOAP 2.2.

Web Result Caching for servlets and JSPs.

Transaction samples for JDBC access to RDBMSs.

HelloDB sample provides a simple example of using JDBC in iPlanet Application Server.

BLOB sample demonstrates accessing Binary Large OBjects using third party JDBC drivers.

SQLRunner demonstrates entering of SQL statements into a web-based interface and executing these statements against a JDBC datasource.
